Mom 2.0: We Build Our Lives In Moments

What I would tell him

(if I knew what to say)

I don't have the heart to tell you 

about how fast it goes 

about how you won't remember your childhood 

about how our lives disappear even as we live them 

I'm not entirely sure what's true 

and I don't know how to live perfectly 

but I do know this 

we build our lives in moments 

and even the ones we can't remember become the story of who we are

the human race has a lot to answer for 

and it's not easy to feel hopeful as it should be 

but you make it more important to try 

because 

the way that I love you makes me a better person 

and the way you love me back makes every sorrow worth it 

don't ever let anybody tell you the magical things don't happen when good people get together 

and don't let anyone convince you that love doesn't matter 

we are at our finest when we take care of each other 

we are our noblest when we give thanks for every forgotten second

I can't give you anything you can keep forever 

but I can promise you 

that it all does matter 

that doing the right thing counts 

that breezes and sunlight and clouds 

are gifts that become a part of you

and 

so my hope for you good boy 

as you grow taller every day 

is that you will learn to take good care of yourself 

and that you will learn to take good care of others 

and that someday you'll see 

how those two things are exactly the same

a humanidade tem muitas questões a serem respondidas
e não é fácil ter esperança 
mas é importante que você continue tentando

pois

meu amor por você me tornou uma pessoa melhor

e a maneira como você me ama faz com que cada tristeza valha a pena

nunca deixe ninguém lhe dizer que coisas mágicas não acontecem quando pessoas boas se reúnem

e não deixe ninguém te convencer de que o amor não importa

o melhor que podemos fazer é cuidarmos uns dos outros

nossa nobreza se revela quando somos gratos por cada segundo 

Eu não posso te dar nada que você possa manter para sempre

 

mas eu posso te prometer

 

que tudo isso importa

 

que fazer a coisa certa conta

 

que brisas e luz do sol e nuvens são presentes que se tornam parte de você 

e

então meu desejo para você, meu querido

conforme você cresce a cada dia

é que você aprenda a cuidar bem de si mesmo

e que você aprenda a cuidar bem dos outros

pois algum dia você entenderá

que essas duas coisas são exatamente iguais
